How Are We In May? 🤔
I'm back with a new show, an updated playlist, and affirmations for the month 💖
How are we already in May? These are the type of questions that need answers. *Runs to calendar and begins to grapple with reality* 😭
How was April for you? Is this month off to a great start? I hope good things have been happening and that the vibrations have been high since we last caught up. (If that hasn’t been the case, I’m here for you if you need someone to talk to. Seriously, you can message me back.)
Since it’s been a few weeks, let’s catch up 🤗. I feel like so many things have happened. In no particular order here is where I’ve been. 🫶🏾💖
The Afrobeats Countdown Episode #1: Through these catchups, you may have been able to figure out by now that I love music and most certainly a good list. Give me a list of books, tips, or advice and I’m here for it. 😂 I recently decided to take two of my favorite things, music and lists, and put them into a show for you and I. The Afrobeats Countdown is all about highlighting music videos across the African Diaspora. Brought to you by African Video Club, you can watch this season’s new episodes every Thursday on YouTube. 💫 📺
Coachellaaaaa! 🎡 - I’m so grateful to have been able to DJ at the festival. Being able to DJ on the festival grounds was a real dream, prayer, and manifestation of faith.
AIR: Can you and I both agree the movies this year have been givingggg? 👀 I recently went to watch AIR and this easily is one of my new favorite movies. I know I’ve said this a lot, but hear me out. I literally would buy this on DVD if it was available and watch it 3 more times in the theater. It’s that good. 😭🎬)
4. A Thousand And One: Since we’re speaking of movies, I also recently saw A Thousand and One. If you’re looking for an emotional 2 hour plus journey, then look no further. (Definitely be prepared to cry 🥹)
5. Affirmations: Rest is self care. I honor my body’s desire for rest.💖
I had to double down on this affirmation this past month. April was a beautiful month of great opportunities. I’m truly grateful for all the moments that brought me joy over the last few weeks. As good things manifest and I find myself learning to balance a schedule that is rooted in rest and the forward movement of my life goals, I’m telling myself that it’s okay to prioritize rest. I hope you can tell yourself the same.
6. Isaia Huron- Adorn: What have you been listening to? Are there new artists that you’ve been tapping into? I’m always down for recommendations. Lately I’ve found myself listening to songs from Isaia Huron. Sorry to my neighbors who continue to hear his songs blasting from my speakers. 😅 His cover of Adorn though?!?! It’s giving Spotify’s top listener.
The Void Playlist: You can listen to artists like Isaia Huron, Nonso Amadi, and Dami Oniru and more in the latest playlist update.
I hope you enjoy tapping in with the music and movies shared and of course The Afrobeats Countdown as well 🥰. As time continues to move, I also hope you feel grounded this month and may this month ( no pun intended) bring you more joy, love, and abundant blessings.
Until next timeeeeee 🤎🤎🤎
